Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There's Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

So, the hype-train has been ridiculously high for Mad Max: Fury Road. This movie currently has a 98% on rotten tomatoes and an 89/100 on Metacritic. Here are my quick thoughts on the previous 3 movies. They were all good, but the only one that I thought was great was Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. Mad Max was good, but very dated, and I honestly didn't mind Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome like most people did, but it is the weakest of the first three films. Does this fourth installment live unto the ridiculous hype it is receiving, or is this another underwhelming fourquel? Let's find out.

The plot of Mad Max: Fury Road continues the adventures of former cop Max Rockatansky, in a desert wasteland where humanity is broken, and everyone is trying to get the necessary supplies to survive. Max gets captured by an army called the War Boys, who are led by their cult leader, King Immortal Joe. After escaping the War Boys, Max aids Imperator Furiosa, who is trying to get all of Joe's five wives to safety, from Joe. Furious is also trying to find her homeland. Whilst Max is helping Furiosa, they are chased by Joe and the War Boys, who are trying to get Joe's wives back and kill Max, because he escaped them, and Furiosa, because she betrayed them, when she is trying to get Joe's wives away from him.

Let's start with the acting. Tom Hardy has replaced Mel Gibson in the role of Max, and he does a really good job in the role. The stand out of the performances is Charlize Theron as Furiosa. She is great in the role, and the character of Furiosa is honestly right up there with Ellen Ripley from the original Alien and Sarah Connor from Terminator as one of the most bad ass female characters in a movie. I like Nicholas Hoult, in the movie, and Hugh Keyas- Bryne is great as the villain.

The acting sequences are incredible. I mean WOW! The movie is about 80-85% action and it never feels repetitive to drakes. Gorge Miller directs the action perfectly, and the effects are all great. What makes these effects work is that 80% of the effects are completely practical. There is some CGI, but it doesn't look obvious at all.

Let's talk about the script. I said that most of the movie is action that never drags, well I'll tell you why. There is action, but this movie builds characters as well. I like how the character of Max is handled as he is haunted by all of the people that he couldn't save from death, namely his wife and child. The character of Furiosa, honestly feels like the main character here, because she gets the most development out of all of the characters in the film. This leads top some emotional beats that are very well done. Why does character development work in this mostly action-based movie, because the heroes of the movie are barley given a chance to stop at all. This makes the entire movie incredibly exiting. There are also some very humorous moments and other moments that are just downright wicked (there is literally a guitar that spurts out fire).

Overall, Mad Max: Fury Road is not only my favorite Mad Max movie so far, but it almost favorite film of the year so far. Heck, I'd say that this is the best straight up action movie of the entire decade so far. It is a wicked, nail biting, crazy, intense, riveting, and insanely exiting action thriller. Let me say this, BEST FOURQUEL EVER.

I am definitely going to give Mad Max: Fury Road an A+ (100%).
